Rights Granted

By submitting your work you grant Luminous Realms Magazine exclusive first world publication rights in the English languages for a period of 6 months from the date of publication. After that period all rights revert to the author in full. We ask only that any subsequent publication credit Luminous Realms Magazine as the first publisher. This includes all media in which Luminous Realms Magazine publishes, included but not limited to electronic (web, e-book, PDF) and print.

Rights Retained by the Author

All rights not expressly granted by the Author reside exclusively with the Author. Submission does not transfer ownership. We acquire only the limited publication right described above; all other rights — including foreign language, adaptation, and derivative works — remain exclusively yours.

After three (3) years from the date of initial publication, Author may terminate the grant of non-exclusive electronic rights and ask the Publisher to remove the Work from the magazine's web site, archives, electronic back issues, bundles, or any other electronic format, and the Publisher agrees that it will comply within 30 days of such request.

Payment

Accepted works are paid at the rate published in our submission guidelines at the time of acceptance. Payment is issued within 60 days of the publication date via the method agreed upon at acceptance. If payment is not received as required by this paragraph, all rights shall immediately revert to the Author. We do not pay for rejected submissions.

Simultaneous & Previously Published Work

We accept simultaneous submissions provided you notify us immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. We do not accept previously published work, including self-published work posted publicly online. The Author agrees not to publish or permit others to publish the Work in the English language worldwide prior to its initial publication in the Magazine and throughout the exclusivity period granted to the Publisher thereafter without the prior written permission of the Publisher. If the Work is selected for an awards anthology, the Publisher agrees to waive this clause, provided the Author gives the Publisher prior written notice of the selection by such an anthology.

Manuscript Handling & Privacy

Submitted manuscripts are read only by editorial staff and are not shared with third parties. Rejected manuscripts are deleted from our systems within 120 days of the rejection notice. AI tools are used solely as an administrative aid and are not used for any final decisions regarding the literary merit of your work.

Promotion & Marketing

The Author grants Publisher the right to use the Author's name, image, likeness, and biographical material for all advertising, promotion and other use of the Work. Upon request, the Author shall provide the Publisher with a photograph of the Author and appropriate biographical material for such use. The Publisher shall use only the Author's name, image, likeness and biographical material provided and approved by the Author.

Governing Agreement

The formal contract signed by Publisher and Author is the governing agreement. If the terms printed here are found in conflict with the signed agreement, the signed agreement takes precedence.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from a submission or publication agreement shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
